The Patuxent Bird Club is unable to respond to individual requests for help in identifying birds. If you need help identifying a bird, we recommend the following resources:

• Go to Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s All About Birds website, click on the orange button “Get Instant ID Help,” and answer the simple questions to see suggestions for your bird.
• If you have a photo, use the Photo ID module within the free Merlin Bird ID app from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and the app will suggest an identification. This app is highly accurate if you have a clear photo.
• Or, upload your photo to the Seek app from iNaturalist, and the app will suggest an identification. This app works with other animals and also with plants.
• Or, join the MDBirding Facebook group and post your question or your photo to the Facebook group. Members of the group will help you with an identification. There are over 16,000 members.
